As a veteran of the wearable industry, you’d probably expect Fitbit to be better positioned for global success in the smartwatch market by now. But after focusing exclusively on low-cost activity trackers for several years, the company released its first proper alternative for the hugely popular Apple Watch lineup in 2017.
Unfortunately, the Ionic didn’t exactly connect with mainstream audiences, and while the Versa family proved slightly more successful, its missing features prevented it from going toe to toe with the aforementioned market-leading smartwatch roster.
At long last, the Fitbit Sense arrived a couple of months ago with pretty much all of the weapons needed to take on the Apple Watch Series 6, including an ECG sensor that was enabled surprisingly quickly after the official product announcement back in August, as well as blood oxygen monitoring functionality and even a proprietary stress tracking technology that very few devices available today can rival.
