Cable-free Android Auto has been around since 2018 but the list of compatible smartphones and car units has been limited to say the least. It seems this will change with the wider roll-out of Android 11 as Google will support any device running its latest OS and equipped with 5Ghz Wi-Fi connectivity according to its FAQ page. Note that EU availability will depend on local rules for using 5Ghz bands in cars.
