Xiaomi prepares two Redmi Note 9 phones with 5G, leakster reveals key specs

Xiaomi launched a number of Redmi Note 9 phones in the first half of the year, but the company is yet to introduce the lineup at home and it appears this is finally happening.

According to prolific Chinese leakster Digital Chat Station, there are two phones in the pipelines – Xiaomi Redmi Note 9 5G Standard Edition and Xiaomi Redmi Note 9 5G High Edition. The former will be smaller in size and with modest specs, while the latter is likely to bring a mighty camera, chipset, and fast charging.

The vanilla Redmi Note 9 5G is going to have a 6.53” LCD with 1080p resolution with a single punch hole in the upper left corner for a 13MP camera. Around the back will be a triple camera with a 48MP primary sensor.

The specs sheet also says 5,000 mAh battery with 22.5W fast charging and the device will weigh 200 grams.

The mightier phone is likely to come with a 6.67” panel and 1080p resolution. It will also be LCD like its vanilla sibling, but will have a 120Hz refresh rate and a 240Hz touch sampling rate. The front camera will be 16MP, but the main one is where it gets interesting – 108MP shooter with Samsung’s HM2 sensor.

The chipset on the Pro (or whatever else it’s called) variant is allegedly the Snapdragon 750G that allows 33W fast charging for the 4,820 mAh battery. This phone will be slightly taller and heavier – 214 grams.

There’s still the mystery whether any of the original Redmi Note 9 phones with LTE connectivity will make it to China, but odds seem slim.
