The Umidigi A7S is an Android Go phone with a contactless thermometer built in

Umidigi unveiled the first entry-level smartphone with a built-in thermometer – an infrared contactless thermometer, which allows you to take someone’s temperature without physical contact.

There’s a shortcut button on the side of the phone that can be assigned to launch the thermometer app or can be used for push to talk, for example.

This is an Android 10 Go edition phone, powered by the MediaTek MT6737 chipset (quad-core A53 at 1.25 GHz). It’s paired with 2GB of RAM and 32GB storage.

This can be expanded through the triple card slot with room for a microSD in as well as two SIM cards. Umidigi is promising support for global LTE bands, so you should have connectivity around the world. There’s also Bluetooth 4.0 and Wi-Fi b/g/n on board (but no NFC).

The A7S is equipped with a 6.53” LCD with 720p+ resolution. Topside is an 8 MP selfie camera (teardrop notch) with for face unlock (there’s no fingerprint reader).

On the back, next to the thermometer, is a triple camera featuring a 13 MP main module (f/1.8), which can record video at 720p. It’s joined by an ultra wide-angle (120°) cam with an 8 MP sensor and a 2 MP depth sensor for bokeh effects.

The phone packs a 4,150 mAh battery charged over USB-C (at just 5 Watts). There’s also a 3.5 mm headphone jack available. The polycarbonate body comes in three colors: Granite Gray, Sky Blue and Peacock Green.
