New Redmi Note 9 series sells more than 300,000 units in a few hours

Xiaomi unveiled three new members of the Redmi Note 9 line last week, the Redmi Note 9 5G, Redmi Note 9 Pro 5G, and Redmi Note 9 4G, making matters even more confusing than before when it comes to understanding its lineup (since there are a bunch of other, older, non-5G Redmi Note 9 models too).

The new phones went on sale in China today, and in just a few hours the company recorded more than 300,000 sales. The number was tallied up until 12 PM local time, after which the official Redmi account on Weibo posted the image you can see below, in celebration of the good news.

The Redmi Note 9 4G, Redmi Note 9 5G, and Redmi Note 9 Pro 5G are all intriguing devices with amazing prices, but perhaps the Note 9 Pro 5G stands out the most, with its 120 Hz screen, 108 MP camera and CNY 1,599 starting price (that’s about $243 or €201 at the current exchange rates).

So it’s not really very surprising that it (and its siblings) would sell this well. As for outside of China, you can basically get the Redmi Note 9 Pro 5G with a different main camera sensor as the Mi 10T Lite 5G, while the Redmi Note 9 4G is basically a rebranded Poco M3. There’s no equivalent for the Dimensity 800U-powered Redmi Note 9 5G in the rest of the world, though, at least not yet.
