Huawei Mate 40 Pro could offer a hexa-camera setup, professional grade video recording
The Huawei Mate 40 series will be officially unveiled on October 22. The lineup apparently consists of three models – the Mate 40, Mate 40 Pro, and Mate 40 Pro Plus. Leaked renders had implied that the new phones would feature a gigantic camera module with four sensors. It now seems that at least one variant will have a hexa-camera array.
This possibility was first raised by Huawei executive Hua Hegang. Leaker @RODENT950 followed up with a clearer picture, which shows a Mate 40 phone, probably one of the Pro models, with an octagonal camera module for housing six sensors.

Camera specs largely remain a mystery, but at least one of these units could be a periscope shooter and the primary sensor could be 108MP.
Of course, the bigger question here is whether we really need six sensors on a phone. The P40 Pro Plus, which has a penta camera array, is quite impressive, and it will be interesting to see if Huawei’s alleged hexa-camera phone outshines competing devices which churn out great images with just two or three cameras.
It also appears that the Mate 40 Pro and Pro Plus will get professional video shooting capabilities.

The Mate 40 teaser also suggests Huawei is done with virtual buttons for now and is going back to physical ones.
The Mate 40 Pro will reportedly feature a 6.7-inches waterfall display with a wide punch-hole for accommodating two selfie cameras. It will apparently have a refresh rate of 90Hz.
All the Mate 40 series phone will likely be powered by the Kirin 9000, Huawei’s first 5nm chip. They will apparently run open-source Android 10 with EMUI 11 on top.
