Get the powerful Google Home Max smart speaker for $150 while you can

Even though Google has only unveiled one new smart speaker so far this year, the Home Max is the second old model to be discontinued in 2020 after the original “regular-sized” Google Home.
Released all the way back in 2017, the search giant’s gargantuan voice-controlled device has yet to completely disappear from its manufacturer’s official US e-store, where it’s currently listed as out of stock in both Chalk and Charcoal flavors and unlikely to ever return.
The powerful smart speaker is also hard to come by at major third-party retailers like Best Buy, Target, or Walmart, where you either have to wait a few weeks to receive one of the last units available or the product is listed as sold out too. But that’s actually not the case over on eBay, where Google itself still sells brand-new, unused, unopened, and undamaged Home Max units at a lower than ever price.
Specifically, $149, which is a number that you’ll see in your cart for both black and white models. That’s marked down from $179, which was discounted from $299, which was permanently reduced from an initial price of $399 last year.
While it’s obviously too late for Google to release a Home Max sequel by the end of this year, it remains to be seen if we’ll get some sort of a Max version of the recently unveiled Nest Audio at some point in 2021.
Until a Nest Max arrives, you can settle for the $99 Nest Audio or a $229 Nest Hub Max with a 10-inch touchscreen in tow if you decide to skip this Google Home Max clearance deal for some reason. While this bad boy doesn’t come with a display, its sound quality and power are pretty much unrivaled. Unless, of course, you’d rather talk to Alexa or Siri than Google Assistant, in which case you can always spend $200 on Amazon’s Echo Studio or $300 for Apple’s OG HomePod.
